Joseph Harry Fowler Connick, Jr., born September 11, 1967, is a singer, pianist, composer, conductor, actor, and most recently, American Idol judge. Born in New Orleans, Harry started playing piano when he was 3 years old. He recorded his first album when he was just 10 years old. After failed attempts to study jazz academically, Harry moved to New York where he began studying at the Manhattan School of Music. It was there that an executive from Columbia records found him and signed him to their label. His first album, Harry Connick Junior, was a jazz album. His follow up album, 20, incorporated his vocal talents.

In 1989, Rob Reiner approached Harry Connick Jr and asked him to do the soundtrack to his movie “When Harry Met Sally”. This was Harry’s big break. Soon after, he started acting. His first acting gig was in 1990 in the movie “Memphis Belle”. His first starring role in the movie “Hope Floats” was in 1998.

Harry Connick, Jr. has sold 28 million records worldwide with 7 Top 20 US albums and 10 #1 US jazz albums. Currently, his bestselling album is his 1993 Christmas album “When My Heart Finds Christmas”. Harry has 3 Grammys and 2 Emmys.
