Description:Archaeological excavation site (December 2006 - March 2008).
Horikawain was the temporary imperial palace (Satodairi) of the 64th Emperor En'yu (959-991, r. 969-984), the 72nd Emperor Shirakawa (1053-1129, r. 1073-1087) and the 73rd Emperor Horikawa (1079-1107, r. 1087-1107) of Japan.
