Hickory Nut Falls is located at the Chimney Rock State Park which is southeast of Ashville. The cascade falls reach a total height of 404 feet (123 meters) and can be accessed by a 3/4-mile trail.
The 1992 film "The Last of the Mohicans" filmed the ending in which Magua is defeated by Chingachgook at the top of the falls.
