Batavia class gunboat Bonaire was built in Fijenoord in 1877. From 1924 to 1995 she served at Delfzijl as living quarters for the Dutch Nautical College, and was renamed Abel Tasman. 30 April 2004 the vessel sank at her moorings, but was raised again the same year and seven year restoration program started in 2005.
