Lohachara Island is an island in the Sundarban National Park, located near the Indian state of West Bengal. It was the first inhabited island to disappear beneath the rising sea as a result of suspected global warming.

This island disappeared over 20 years ago. Here are the facts: It was in the middle of a river delta. There has been zero rise in the sea level in the area. The island simply eroded beneath the surface. It's nothing new - islands have been doing this forever. Any claim that this is related to global warming is simply fearmongering.
