The Ipiranga Museum building was constructed near the Ipiranga stream, where D. Pedro I declared the independence of Brazil in 1822.

It was inaugurated in 1895, being the oldest museum of São Paulo city, it exhibits pieces of art that tell the history of the Brazilian society from XIX and XX centuries. There are sculptures, pictures, jewelry, furniture, documents and native and Indians crafts, among others.

In front of it there are gardens, a replica of Versailles Palace Gardens in France.
