What is this? Perhaps it's just a butte formed by magma pushing upward but there was never an eruption? From the sky this clearly looks like a small volcano crater and that would make sense because it's located in a very volcanic area. It's not labeled on the topographic maps and I can't find a name for this or any reference to it anywhere...
...so if you act now and submit your proposal to the GNIS, maybe you can slap a name on this sucker!
