James Obergefell's House

James Obergefell, along with his husband, John Arthur, are the plaintiffs in the U.S. Supreme Court case Obergefell v. Hodges in which Obergefell is suing for the state of Ohio to recognize the couples' marriage which occurred in Maryland. John Arthur, Obergfell's husband was terminally ill with ALS and Obergfell was denied spousal visitation rights in the hospital and was not allowed to be listed as his spouse on his death certificate. The oral arguments for the Supreme Court case will be heared 28 APR 2015. The courts' decision will announce whether individual states have the right to rule against same-sex marriage.
