The self-described Hollywood outsider has sold his home for $2.817M. He created and produced several critically acclaimed shows, including "The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd" and "The Slap Maxwell Story", which fostered the reputation of a Hollywood maverick. He is credited with helping shape television by introducing a more serious spin and complex characters to sitcoms. He, in collaboration with Tom Patchett, were the writers-producers for the original "Bob Newhart Show" on CBS in the 1970's.
