Jericoacoara is a APA (area of ambient protection) since 1984. Located in the state of the Ceará, it is about 300 km west of Fortaleza. Up to 1985 it was only one small fishing village, lost between immense dunes and isolated of the remaining portion of the world. Until the tourism discovered it, and the fame of Jericoacoara did not know borders. Already it was important substance of some programs of television, and publications in the entire world. The American periodical “Washington Post Magazine” chose it as one of ten more beautiful beaches of the planet in 1994.
