Boeheim has also served as an assistant coach for the United States men's national basketball team at the 1990 FIBA World Championship, the 2006 FIBA World Championship, the 2008 Summer Olympics, the 2010 FIBA World Championship, the 2012 Summer Olympics, and the 2016 Summer Olympics. Boeheim was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in September 2005. Boeheim originally announced that he would retire in March 2018.
