John W. Madigan was the retired Chairman and CEO of Tribune Company, the nation's second largest newspaper publisher. It is based in Chicago.

Mr. Madigan is also a former member of the Defense Business Board of the Department of Defense, an advisor to Madison Dearborn Partners and a director and former chairman of The Chicago Council on Global Affairs. He served as a trustee of Northwestern University, Rush University Medical Center and the Paley Center for Media in New York. He passed away in 2012.
