Jonathan Michael Lovitz, born July 21, 1957, is best known for his time spent on Saturday Night Live (SNL) and for his voice work. After attending Harvard-Westlake school in Los Angeles, Jon went on to graduate from the University of California at Irvine. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Drama in 1979. Soon after graduation, he joined the Groundlings where he began his comedy career and made some of his famous comedian friends. On March 28, 1985, Jon premiered his character, Tommy Flanagan the Perpetual Liar on stage with the Groundlings. Within six months of that premiere, Jon got an agent, acted in a movie (Last Resort), landed a TV series (Foley Square), voice over work (The Brave Little Toaster) and was recommended to work on SNL.

Currently, Jon Lovitz is touring doing stand-up. Jon did not begin doing stand-up until 2003, many years after his time on SNL. In 2007, Jon opened up the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club in LA where he was frequently found doing performances. In 2011 it was rebranded the Jon Lovitz Comedy Club and Podcast Theatre where Adam Corolla and Kevin Smith’s podcast was taped. In November 2014, the comedy club shut their doors.
