Edward VIII served as King of England from January through December 1936 before abdicating the throne to King George VI in order to marry his love, American socialite, Wallis Simpson.

The couple spent their Spring holidays here, at Horseshoe Plantation outside of Tallahassee, FL.

Horseshoe Plantation was originally a cotton plantation, built around 1840 by Dr. Edward Bradford, a planter from North Carolina. It is currentlly owned by Frederic C. Hamilton of Hamilton Groups, LLC.

The "royal" couple NEVER owned the property. They visited their very good friend, mrs. george baker. the bakers purchased the property in 1916. In 1980, it was the largest real estate sale ever in leon county, florida.

The description does not say they owned it, only that they spent multiple holidays there.
