A gondola rises to the Lagazuoi (2762 m.), which was the object of heavy combat in World War I. The tunnel that the Italians built under the Austrian lines is open to the public
It is a ledge that is located on the south wall of the Little Lagazuoi (mt 2779). Named after the commander of the Alpine Major Ettore Martini and his men here based in October 1915. Wedged in that position the mountain created a painful thorn in the side of the Austrians, being able to control and disturb all the actions that took place in the Pass area Falsarego removing freedom of movement to the enemy. But also by the Italian situation was not the most optimistic in fact they were surrounded on three sides. The Austrians tried several times and in any way to chase them away from quell'arroccamento but with poor results. For its part, however, the Italians were never able to conquer the peak of P. Lagazuoi. At that point he created a stalemate with the Austrians who tried in every way to drive out the Italians with artillery fire or trying to dive from the top with heroic actions, and mountaineers who had to defend at all costs
