Located in the heart of the Hickory Nut Gorge east of Asheville. Created in 1927 by the impounding of the Rocky Broad River. Approximately 720 acres with 72 miles of shoreline. Some scenes of the Patrick Swayze hit movie Dirty Dancing were filmed here.
