Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel officially handed over the new UN Campus in Bonn to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in July 2006. The Federal Government spent €55 million on the reconstruction of this building, which is known as "Langer Eugen" and formerly housed the offices of the members of the German Bundestag. A total of 17 Bonn-based UN agencies work together in this building.
