This 3/8 mile paved oval race track was built as a dirt track in 1982. Originally known as Lanier Raceway, it was paved and renamed Lanier National Speedway after the 1986 season. NASCAR sanctioned weekly stock car races at the track for many years.

The track closed after the 2011 season and was sold in 2014. Major renovations were done to the deteriorated facility in advance of its 2015 reopening under the new name of Lanier Raceplex. The track sits across the street from the famous Road Atlanta road course.
