Sad to see the house has been razed. I was there for a party for the Democratic Site selection Committee in the late 70's. They wanted to hold the convention in Los Angeles, so we were wined and dined by the best. In the end, the committee chose to have it in New York. It was so gorgeous. Huge Park-like yard. Yellow and white umbrellas & tables all over the grassy areas. Charleton Heston stepped on my foot and felt so bad, but when he turned around to apologize and I realized who he was I said "you want to step on the either one?" He laughed. Also got to meet the iconic master of macabre, Alfred Hitchcock and so many other Stars. I was a young, pretty blonde then and Mr Hitchcock just kept staring at me. What a thrill! My regret? Not taking a camera. I thought it would not be cool to do that, then. Darn!
