In 2009, the Vechery's sued Tagg Romney, son of Mitt Romney, for defrauding shareholders of a corporation he controlled. The lawsuit alleged that in 2004 Romney conspired to defraud the plaintiffs into paying $100,000 to Romney and other shareholders by making false promises that the plaintiffs would be paid their fair share of the corporation’s distributions.
