From 1853 to 1873 there were three lighthouses on Lista. This was before the invention of the technology that provided the lamps with a steady light by means of a flash mechanism. By lighting several lights in one place, it was easier to distinguish one lighthouse from the other. One of the towers was later moved to Trøndelag. The lighthouse is still manned.
