On November 10, 2010, the 275 ft. tall smokestack of this 83 year-old decommissioned power plant owned by Ohio Edison was set to be demolished. An undetected crack in the smokestack caused it to fall in a different direction than what was planned, making onlookers scramble for safety. The smokestack fell on to power lines, cutting electricity to 4000 customers.
