The Maginot-fortress Sentzich was a component of the Secteur Fortifié de Thionville. The garrison consisted of 66 soldiers and 1 officer of the 167e RIF. Its principal mission was to cover the valley of the Moselle.
Sentzich was never subjected to a serious attack.
