This 1/2 mile high-banked oval track has held races since 1959. Originally a 3/8 mile dirt track, it was enlarged after the 1971 season. The track closed and was neglected in the mid-1990's, but was saved at auction in 1998. New ownership poured millions of dollars into renovations and repairs and paved the racing surface in time for the 1999 racing season.
Each year, the track holds several national touring series events, including NASCAR Trucks and Modifieds, Hooters Pro Cup and ASA stock cars, USAC sprints and midgets, and ISMA Supermodifieds. A 1/4 mile drag strip has been in the planning stages for the past three years, but has not yet materialized.
