The public housing complex in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn was built at the end of the 1940s. It consists of 27 six-story buildings, contains 1,705 apartments and houses about 4,286 residents.
Hip Hop mogul Jay-Z grew up here. It was also Mos Def's childhood home for five years.
