Maurice "The Rocket" Richard (August 4, 1921 – May 27, 2000) is portrayed by a statue outside of an arena bearing his name.
Richard played his entire ice hockey career (1943-60) with the Montreal Canadiens. He scored 544 goals and 421 assists in 978 games played. He was on eight teams that won the Stanley Cup. In 1961, he was selected to the Hockey Hall of Fame after the standard post-retirement waiting period was waived.
