Hey, I say go for it. We probably won't put them all on the front page and we'd sure get sick of moderating them but whatthe heck.

I might eat at Mickey D's once a year, maybe once every two years... I actually don't mind their existence compared to some other corporate entities in America. At least they don't run Christmas TV commercials in November... at least not yet. I'm on no mission whatsoever to submit McDonald's maps... but if I come across one like I did while looking over Fresno yesterday, hey, I might send it in. Including all the fast food joints in America on this fine site is something I'd encourage no one to do!!!

What's really odd is that the McDonald's restaurant locator

http://www.mcdonalds.com/usa/rest_locator.html

places this store here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=fresno,+ca&ll=36.730105,-119.689651&spn=0.003709,0.010274&t=k&hl=en

Which is quite clearly a residential neighborhood... and 0.6 miles off.

Like defense sites on maps of the former Soviet Union McDonald's offsets their establishments on their own maps in case the rest of the world choses to target them with ICBMs (International Cheese Burger Mutilaters).

The real question is how many McD's are in hi-res...

My interaction thus far with McD corporate:

Comment: It has come to my attention that the location of your store located at 5645 East Kings Canyon Rd. Fresno CA is terribly mislocated on your store finder. The store finder locates it here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=fresno,+ca&ll=36.730105,-119.689651&spn=0.003709,0.010274&t=k&hl=en while in fact it is loacted here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=fresno,+ca&ll=36.736365,-119.697472&spn=0.002516,0.007970&t=k&hl=en Thank you for your attention to this matter.

You know who owns those aforementioned ICBMs (International Cheese Burger Mutilaters) ... it's a joint cooperative between Burger King, Wendy's, and Jack in the Box. Hmmm... speaking of which, there's another 34 or so million maps to add to the site!!! I hope no one gets rights on that.

>>The real question is how many McD's are in hi-res...

I know a few years back they had something over 6,000 total, worldwide. Likely a bit more than that now. As for how many are in high res, I would think a lot. Likely at least 1-2 thousand, I would guess. They are all over the place, and are present in large numbers in a lot of large US cities, many of whic are in high res.

Not all have a very distinctive red roof such as this one in Fresno. Many are not as isolated as this one is to be able to distinguish it perfectly unless you happen to live in the area and know for sure which building it is in an aerial image. Address mapping isn't always perfect on any internet mapper so truly adding every McDonald's or similar establishment would be a difficult task.

There's one I know of in OK that is not in hi-res, at least last time I checked. It's the one that is on a bridge over the Will Rogers Turnpike near Vinita. As for mapping all, there's bound to be some duplicity. There are two McD's just down the freeway from me that would be on the same map. Good thing we aren't going for Starbucks here; that would be hellacious!
