Milton Sidley is a Los Angeles lawyer and property investor and landlord.
Sidley is probably best known for his actions in 2005. He had been renting out a vacant lot he owned for $2,500/mo, a very low price for the lot. The non-profit organization renting from him had used the property to house Dome City -- a small village used to house some of the city's homeless. When Sidley, a Democrat, found out that the president of the non-profit organization was a Republican who supported then president George W. Bush, he raised the rent to more than $18,000/mo which the organization was unable to afford. http://www.domevillage.org/ |
