The Moliceiro Boat, or simply moliceiro, is a type of vessel used to harvest and transport the aquatic vegetation (known as moliço) of the Aveiro Lagoon (Ria de Aveiro)
This boat is used exclusively at the Ria de Aveiro, and has the form of a crescent. In the past it was used exclusively to harvest and transport aquatic vegetation, but presently it is used to transport people, goods or cattle. Its size varies according to the areas where it navigates, which means that it is a boat that adapts well to the conditions it is used for, as well as to the geographic and climate conditions of the area.
The elegant and exotic shape of its stylised and raised head, and its joyful decoration with multicoloured motifs make the moliceiro boat an ex-libris of this region.
