Monnow Bridge

Monnow Bridge

Monmouth, United Kingdom (GB)
Monnow Bridge is the sole remaining mediaeval fortified river bridge in Britain where the gate tower stands actually on the bridge. It dates from the 13th century. It was used my modern traffic until 2004 when new bridge was opened a few hundred meters downstream and the old bridge has since been used only by pedestrian traffic.
