'Morris Greenwald House' by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

'Morris Greenwald House' by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe

Weston, Connecticut (CT), US
Largely unpublished and generally unknown, this '55 house was designed for the brother of Herbert Greenwald, the developer of the Lake Shore Drive apartments in Chicago. The window wall is actually left over sash from Lake Shore.
There is some speculation that Mies had little to do with this house but it is still recognized as one of three US houses.
A new owner acquired the home in the 80's and, sensitive to the history of the house, hired Peter Gluck's firm to add some rather nice pavillion additions.
