Gates never owned La Leopolda.
Really expensive houses rarely make it into the public eye. Think Mittal's house at Kensington Place or Paul Allen's compound on Mercer Island. |

In October 2011, it was announced that the property had been sold for $55M (significantly less than Spelling Manor at $85M; Trump's Maison l'Amiite at $95M; Sandy Weill's NYC Penthouse at $88M, etc.)
