A 1700 meter high active volcano group in Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan.

An eruption started on January 26th, 2011 at 7:30 AM. It is the strongest eruption since 1959, spewing smoke up to 2.5 km in the air and throwing Volcanic bombs up to 1.5 km. An area of 2 km around the volcano has been evacuated.

The Google Maps' image is Karakunidake (韓国岳) of Kirishima volcanic group?
Erupting volcano is not Karakunidake but Shinmoedake (新燃岳).
Shinmoedake is located about 3km southeast of Karakunidake.
