Mount Vettore (Latin Victor, winner) is the highest mountainous Sibillini, with its 2,476 meters above sea level. During the late Pleistocene (from 125,000 to 10,000 years ago) the glacier dragged forward moraine debris that created a natural barrier, creating a glacial lake that today is Pilato.

It is situated in the Apennines of Umbria and Marche to the border between Umbria and Marche. Its summit, which is located in the region of Marche, is the highest mountain of an arc that has a characteristic U-shaped and which includes, following the arc from west to east, San Lorenzo, Top of the Redeemer (2448 m), Cima del Lago, the Carrier, Vettoretti Mount (2032 m) and Mount Nougat (2102 m).
