Museu nacional de História Natural

Premises of the Science Museum are housed in the Escola Politécnica (founded in 1837) at the entrance to the Botanical Garden. The National Museum of Natural History is composed of several smaller museums, some of which are in the process of being built. The Museu de Barbosa du Bocage and the Museu da Ciéncia only open for temporary exhibitions. A permanent exhibition of mineralogical finds can be seen in the Museu e Laboratório Mineralógico e Geológico.
