--------------------------------------------

The Maple Leaf Gardens was the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL team from 1931 - 1999. After sitting dormant for several years, a project to convert the 15,728 seat building into a unique mixed-use facility began in 2010.

The building was gutted and divided into three levels. The ground floor was transformed into a Loblaws grocery store. The second level is primarily an athletic facility for Ryerson University, complete with basketball and volleyball courts and a student fitness center.

On the third floor is Ryerson's 2,796 seat hockey arena, which is approximately 50 feet above street level. It was named Mattamy Home Ice.
