During the 90s the street was well known as a haven for music fans thanks to the many shops trading in new and second hand records and cd's. This is believed to have been the reason why it was picked for the cover of Oasis 1995 album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?. The album cover features two men passing each other in Berwick street, the two men are London DJ Sean Rowley and album producer Owen Morris.

Much has changed in the area since 1995, in 2008 only a few of the record shops remain and construction work has changed parts of the street substantially.
