The Old Royal Naval College was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and was built between 1696 and 1712. The buildings were originally constructed to serve as a Royal Hospital for Seamen and served that purpose until 1869. From 1873 to 1998 it was the Royal Naval College. Today, it is part of the University of Greenwich and the centrepiece for Maritime Greenwich a UNESCO World Heritage site.
