The Olympic Stadium, the centre of the Olympic Games 2004, is situated at Maroussi and it is part of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex (OAKA). The Olympic can accommodate 72,000 spectators, and hosted the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. It was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.
