Onera Modane-Avrieux Center wind tunnels

Onera Modane-Avrieux Center wind tunnels

Modane, France (FR)
Created just after the Second World War at Avrieux near Modane in Savoy, this Center houses a set of wind tunnels for simulating flows ranging from subsonic to hypersonic velocities. It has the particular feature of receiving its energy essentially in hydraulic form through a forced pipe 850 m high coming from the Aussois dams (reserve of 12 millions m3) and with a maximum flow rate of 15 m3/s. The Center includes a set of wind tunnels simulating flows from subsonic to hypersonic velocities.
