This donut and coffee shop was co-founded by NHL player Tim Horton in 1964. Today, there are over 3500 Tim Hortons locations in Canada and the United States.

Horton was still playing in the NHL when he died in a traffic accident in 1974 at the age of 44. In his 24 year career, he played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Buffalo Sabres. He was part of four Stanley Cup champion teams (all with Toronto) and was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1977.
