One woman tried very hard to save that old structure. Designed and built in the mid-50's, she claimed it "should be saved because it represents what was once a new era of libraries," adding, "it is important to the character of the neighborhood."

Eventually what she dragged on and on came to an end and the old 5,000 square foot library was demolished so construction on the new 9,400 square foot library could get underway.
