It is a circular building, built in 1874, and previously used by the Brazilian Army and arsenal of gunpowder and ammunition. After deactivation, the municipality of Curitiba became the cultural and scenic space, inaugurating the Barn Theatre on December 27, 1971.

The unique features of the building were maintained. The old barn was converted into an auditorium for 225 spectators arena in architectural design of Abram Assad.
