Built by architect Arata Isozaki for the Barcelona Olympics, reminds many of a flying saucer. The Palau's roof consists of a giant, metallic web combined with glazed ceramic tiles. Japanese architect Mamoru Kawaguchi created the computerised plans on which the current Palau Sant Jordi is based, and the result of his work is a truly stunning design.

Performers from all around the world have held their concerts here, and theatrical and ballet shows have also been staged at the Palau. It has even been site of motocross competitions, and, when Barcelona hosted the World Swimming Championships, it was turned into an enormous, covered swimming pool. The stands at the Palau Sant Jordi seat about 17,000 people.
