Pat is the head coach of the Northwestern Wildcats. Before coaching, Pat excelled at linebacker for Northwestern from 1993-1996. Fitz won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (1995,1996) twice, the Chuck Bednarik Award (1995, 1996) twice, the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year (1995,1996) twice and led his team to the 1996 Rose Bowl.
In 2008 Fitzgerald was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
