Interesting story, the place has become a modern day ghost town.

Picher School graduated its final class of 11 students in May 2009. Peak population occurred in 1926 with 14,252 residents. As of November 2010, it was reported that Picher still had "one business and six occupied houses”. Because of lead and zinc ore mining... another city is pushed aside and is now dangerous to all.

Joe Don Rooney, raised in Picher, OK, is an American musician and the lead guitarist and harmony singer in the American country pop trio Rascal Flatts.

Yes, the story of this Oklahoma town is interesting....but so sad! There are many towns just like Picher in the area that are headed down that same road.
