Place Garibaldi

Place Garibaldi

Nice, France (FR)
On the edge of the old town, this pretty square was created at the end of the 18th century under the supervision of Antoine Spinelli, who also designed one of its most beautiful buildings, the Chapelle du Saint-Sépulcre. In the centre of this square stands the statue of Joseph Garibaldi, 'Hero of the Two Worlds', built in 1891 by Etex and Gustave Deloye. On the square, you can enjoy a drink or two, or sample the excellent seafood dishes of the famous Grand Café de Turin. It's also not far from the harbour of Vieux-Nice, the Colline du Château hill, the municipal theatre and the Modern Art Museum.
