Pointville / Fort Dix Cemetery

Pointville / Fort Dix Cemetery

McGuire AFB, New Jersey (NJ), US
This cemetery dates back to the early 1800's, and on a recent visit I saw grave stones with death dates of 1809, though I saw a few new burials from as recent as 2003. It used to be known as the Pointville Methodist Episcopal Cemetery, but is now referred to as the Pointville or Fort Dix Cemetery.

In 1939 or 1940, the US Government condemned the land around the cemetery for the purpose of establishing McGuire Air Force Base at what was then known as Fort Dix Airport.

Pointville / Fort Dix Cemetery remains untouched, but the Pointville Methodist Episcopal Church was moved to another location in south Jersey in the 1940's.
