It was erected in 1891. It is also known as "Our Lady of Victories." The Grand Army of the Republic Bosworth Post No. 2. sponsored the monument. The statue was designed by Franklin Simmons. It honors Civil War veterans and was modeled after Minerva (Nike?), goddess of wisdom and war.
