Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy is the daughter of Italy's last king, Umberto II. She lived here until 1990 when she divorced from Robert Zellinger de Balkany, a Romanian real estate investor and one of France's richest men at the time.
The property is said to be still owned by the Zellinger de Balkany family.

This mansion is called Château Balsan, or Lou Seuil. It was designed by the Parisian Achille Duchêne for colonel Jacques Balsan and his wife, Consuelo Vanderbilt.
